Education Centre Construction Project

Alhamdulillah, since 2013, Zakariyya Masjid has been attending to the spiritual and religious educational needs of the children of our community. Lessons on Qur'an and Hadith have been taught to many students here at Zakariyya Masjid. We have introduced a wide range of subjects into our evening class syllabus, including adopting the 'ilm2amal' (Knowledge to Action) programme. This course has been helping our children become better members of our community.

There has been an increasing number of children wanting to attend, but we have found it difficult to cater for their needs due to the lack of space and time clashes with prayer times, etc. Therefore, we had to find alternative arrangements to accommodate these children.

Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah the Almighty SWT, Zakariyya Masjid purchased a derelict property on Ribbleton Lane, formally a pub, to serve as an educational and community centre.

These photos show the original building that was purchased, which was known as the The Old England Pub. Due to the irrepairable damage that has befallen the derelict property, planning permission to demolish the building and rebuild was granted in line with the surrounding area.

The Demolition of the derelict building took place during February 2021, follow the progress photos on our Instagram channel.
