NEW Education Centre Project
Alhamdulillah, since 2013, Zakariyya Masjid has been attending to the spiritual and religious educational needs of the children of our community. Lessons on Qur'an and Hadith have been taught to many students here at Zakariyya Masjid. We have introduced a wide range of subjects into our evening class syllabus, including adopting the 'ilm2amal' (Knowledge to Action) programme. This course has been helping our children become better members of our community.
There has been an increasing number of children wanting to attend, but we have found it difficult to cater for their needs due to the lack of space and time clashes with prayer times, etc. Therefore, we had to find alternative arrangements to accommodate these children.
Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah the Almighty SWT, Zakariyya Masjid has purchased a property on Ribbleton Lane, formally a pub, to serve as an educational and community centre.
Alhamdulillah, planning permission to demolish the current building (due to the irrepairable damage that has befallen the derelict property) and planning permission to rebuild the property (keeping in line with the surrounding area) has been granted. We aim to start demolition once the building regulation plans have been approved.
We have many plans to use this building to benefit our community, including, but not limited to:
- Madrasah for our children
- Sisters’ classes and events
- A wider range of bespoke courses
- Training and support
- Youth Hub
